Pre-filing Counseling
The consumer credit counselor conducting the pre-filing counseling session has been trained and certified in accordance with the National Foundation for Consumer Credit standards, and while he/she has expertise in helping those with financial problems it is not intended to take the place of a consultation with an attorney to explore your legal rights and options. The session will take about 90 minutes and the following will be covered.

If you and your spouse both plan to file bankruptcy then both are required to complete a pre-filing counseling session. There is a $50.00 fee per individual or $75.00 for couples. You may pay online by debit card or credit card; or you may pay by money orders or cashiers checks. There is a $5 processing fee if you pay by money orders or cashiers checks. Momentive does not accept personal checks.
In compliance with the Bankruptcy Reform Act MOMENTIVE® will issue a certificate of completion. Your certificate is valid for 180 days from the date the counseling is completed. Certificate will be issued:
In Person Session — Immediately upon completion of the pre-filing counseling session and after receiving all completed required forms and payment.
Telephone Session — Within three business days upon completion of the pre-filing counseling session and after receiving all completed required forms and payment.
MOMENTIVE is not approved to issue certificates for the following judicial districts: Alaska, Arkansas, Hawaii, Louisiana, Oregon, Western Massachusetts, West Virginia, Guam, Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands.
MOMENTIVE Consumer Credit Counseling Service provides counseling services regardless of ability to pay. Reduced rates and waivers are based upon your monthly income and valid proof of income. For additional information, please email us at onlinebkcounseling@momentive.org.
Refund Policy
You may cancel enrollment under the following conditions:
- Provide written notice to MOMENTIVE Consumer Credit Counseling Service
- Within 2 business days from the date of purchase.
- Prior to starting the course
- After two business days of the date of purchase and prior to the commencement of classes, there shall be no refund
- There shall be no refunds for any course in which a completion certificate has been issued
- Please NOTE: All credit card charges will show up as NETBILITY INC on your credit card statement.
